Hi Team, 

 

I hope everyone has been having a lovely Easter Holiday and has taken some well deserved time off. Just a reminder the studio will be closed on ANZAC day, Tuesday the 25th of April.

 

Firstly, I'd like to make a big shout out to our Burlesque ladies from Term 1 for putting on a steller performance last Wednesday! Thanks to everyone who dodged the rain to come out and watch. Your support is appreciated and means a lot!

 

Also, we have some new events coming up next month that we are so excited to share with you! New Intro to Pilates Workshop and Pilates for Riders, plus more Burlesque. Spaces are limited, scroll below for more info.

Improve Your Riding

 

We've created a workshop specifically for Riders looking to improve their sport.

 

Learn certain exercises that help facilitate you, the rider, with the horse, as well as, how to turn on the "right" muscles and turn off the "wrong" ones. Gain symmetry, strength and flexibility through Pilates.

Client Spotlight - Meet Julie

 

Q: Tell us a little about yourself e.g. what you do for work and play.

A: I moved here from the UK in 2009. Previously I was an RN and specialised in Children's Nursing.

My husband & I have our own business in Kerikeri (Automotive Engineering). When I'm not supporting him in the business, I train actively for Triathlon.

 

Q: What made you decide to join Aligned Movement?

A: I wanted to develop my core fitness to compliment my other training activities.

 

Q: What classes do you take?

A: Usually, mat classes, although I have joined the circuit class before.

 

Q: Which class is your favourite? Why?

A: I love the mat class - Alyssa changes it up every week, using a variety of Pilate's props, etc - so the class is always different.  Although the focus is on the 'core', Alyssa structures the class so that you feel you are getting a more generalised all over body workout - alongside that Alyssa's sense of humour is infectious which means the classes are fun! I always feel more energised after completing the class.

 

Q: How have our classes helped you?

A: My core strength and flexibility has increased noticeably; I think Pilates adds to my overall functional strength and helps me to avoid injury.

 

Q: Do you play any sports or partake in other physical activities outside of the studio?

A: I actively train for, and regularly participate in Triathlon... this involves swimming, both in the pool and the ocean, cycling and running.  I also include a couple of strength training sessions during the week.  When we have some down time, my husband & I like to walk, and on a good day, we take the canoe's out in/around one of the many beautiful bays found locally.

 

Q: Is there anything else you'd like to share with us?

A: 'Use it or lose it'! - This is especially important as we get older.  Regular exercise, like Pilates, helps us to maintain good physical and mental health throughout our lifespan - and 'you're never too old' - age is just a number, and it's never too late to try something new....
